A new chapter of the app for YAW 2024

The App improvements for 2024

At Bizont, we are excited to participate in Yukoner Appreciation Week once again, an event we enthusiastically celebrate every year. After the great success we had with last year’s edition, our contribution this time around has been to develop an improved version of the official app for the event.

Last year, we were proud to offer attendees an app that made it easier to manage their activities and helped connect Yukoners to the different experiences the event had to offer. If you haven’t had a chance to read about our previous work, you can find the full story here

What are the main developments in the app?

This 2024, we’ve taken it a step further, implementing new technologies and functionalities that optimize the user experience and expand the app’s reach. For development, we used PostgreSQL as the database and React Native, GraphQL, and Cloud Functions with NodeJS, which allowed us to offer a robust and scalable platform.

Here are some of the highlights of this year’s improvements:

Improved Accessibility & Usability

App | Usability

We listened closely to our clients and community and have made adjustments to make the app even more intuitive and easy to navigate. It now has a more accessible design for all types of users.

Promoting Local Businesses

App | Local business

This year, we put a particular emphasis on promoting participating businesses. We have added a new section where users can easily search for businesses, with options to filter by category or name, facilitating the navigation and location of each company participating in the event.

New Events Section

App | QR code

The app now features a list. By clicking on any event, users can see all the details, such as time, location, and date, and also access an interactive map to locate it.

Map Functionality & Location

App | Map

We have improved the map functionality, showing the location of all participating businesses registered in the system. Users can filter trades by those with QR codes and check in at them. The map uses Google Maps or Apple Maps, depending on the device, making it easier to locate and follow directions. In addition, if the user allows access to their location, the app will show them the nearest businesses in real-time.

Performance Optimization

App | Optimization

We know that speed and efficiency are key to any app, so we have worked on improving load times and overall performance, ensuring that every interaction is fast and smooth, even with a large number of simultaneous users.

We love to be part of this event!

We are proud of the result and look forward to attendees testing the new version of the app at Yukonner Appreciation Week 2024 by the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce. We are excited to continue our partnership with this event, which brings together a vibrant and active community, and we will continue to innovate to make each edition better than the last.
