After performing all the steps explained in previous posts, it is time to analyze.
Important Details
In the EDA, we noticed that the contracts were subdivided by a category named “change order number.”
This variable states whether a contract is original or renewed several times. For the simplicity and accuracy of the rest of the analysis, we decided to use only the original contracts.
Remember that the historical data obtained is from the fiscal years 2021-22 to 2023-24. (The fiscal years begin in April and end in March of the following year.)
You should already know what you want to know about the data. Establishing key questions to guide your analysis will help you optimize your time and computational resources throughout the process.
However, sometimes, to answer your initial questions, you will probably have to ask yourself more questions, do extra calculations, and link all the information you are obtaining to answer your initial question.
It is like being a detective, finding and joining the pieces needed to solve the puzzle!

How to Dive Deeper?
You can use variables as filters to unlock more possibilities. For example, to make a comparison between small and large businesses you can filter by the total contracts amount. It is known that small businesses commonly do not get granted big contracts (above $50k), so you can use this number to find out the average number of small businesses, separate them by Yukon or Non-Yukon Business, identify the top acquisition method, tender class or even contract type.
Another option is to identify patterns using the contract start dates. Are the number of contracts given each fiscal year the same or different? Which months have more contracts started? How many contracts does a specific department have? And so much more. Your imagination and curiosity are the limit.
